Obviously there are only 4 outputs for the Nord Modular (G2 specifically) but I would love to have 8 for multitrack recording.

I can't change the physical inputs, but what if I changed the polarity of the signals?

If I ran two different sounds, converted the polarity of one signal to positive and only output positive, and converted the other signal to negative and only output negative, mixed them down, ran them out of the one output, recorded the output and then split them somehow, would that work?

Would that then produce two separate signals from one single line of audio?

you'd have to separate the signals again ... which after the mix can not be done anymore (as you'll have no idea where the signal cam from) - so, no: simple mixing wont do it.

You could, in theory, time multiplex though .. do one sample of one channel and then one sample of the second one - that could be made to be seperable .. but you decoder would still have to be in sync with your encoder (which /could/ be done with your positive / negative idea - one sample all < 0 and the next one all > 0) (but you'd loose some bandwidth in the process ofcourse). It will be quite a project to get it right Shocked
