Gents,

After a little prodding from Thomas Henry, Scott and Bill, i decided to finally post this project. It's so easy, it's almost embarrassing....actually, it is embarrassing.

Anyway, I PM'ed Scott last night with a concern I had and we thought this might be a good issue for the Mod Helpers, (or as my daughter calls us: the E-M Illuminati). The project is contingent on people obtaining used sound cards off of ebay. I'm afraid that we could create a bidding war and drive the prices on these things up more than they should be. This should be a cheap and easy project.

One thought I had this morning in the shower, was to set max prices with the first bidder there having dibs on that card. For instance, we'd set the price for a 1M ROM card at $10, 2M at $20 and the Yamaha/Roland 4M cards at $50max. First E-M forum member in at those bids gets in and the others agree to back off. As I stated in the posting, this is really anti-capitalist but I think our little forum needs a little more socialism than capitalism to prosper.

I have agreed to procure cards for Thomas and Scott (if his wife lets him!). I suppose if Bill and Matthias want one, I can do that too, as I definitely owe those guys. I can probably help others in this group as well as long as it doesn't get too overwhelming. I spend probably as much time on ebay as E-M stuff, so the shopping part doesn't bother me too much.

Anyway, any thoughts on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Don't worry about me. I've got enough things to keep me busy. By the time I get around to doing this one they will have slapped a nappy on me and rolled me out to the sun deck! Laughing

Cool Very Happy
But.. what is this sound card thingie about .. really? Did I miss something?
ROMs?

Shocked

But.. a soundcard..? Isn´t that more like an AudioWerk2?
Or.. is this about cards with soundengines built in?

I'm pretty sure I still have one of these, inside an old P3-500 tower I built around 1999. I'll check.

Antman, do you have 'trading papers' left in the States, or has everything been devoured by ebay? I think this is the nature of ebay, and I don't think there is a lot you can do about it, however, it is still possible to find a bargain in trading papers- and in many cases, you can view the items, and if you don't want them you don't have to commit to buy either.
