I go this from Softfin just now

Subject: QFG boards etc.
I thought last friday was supposed be some kind of a deadline for Randaleem's QFG boards, but he hasn't written a word since thursday...

I'm beginning to think that it's possible he's not even intending to deliver those boards.

BTW, I noticed that a new member "TonnieWiegman", who first told about his PM response from Randal (2.11 deadline), has written on JH's Solina thread that he offers to sell about 20 TDA1022 chips for those who are patient to wait... Two messages, another one is a status update for QFG boards (which he told he got from Randaleem via PM), and the second one is an offer two sell some TDA1022s... Can be a coincidence, but still weird.

I'm just speculating here, but if Randaleem would be indeed a cheater, it wouldn't be hard to imagine him using more than one username and stretching the timetables for orders to get as many of them as possible.

Please tell me what you think?

Best,
Lassi/ Softfin

Tonnie Wiegmann posted from 81.204.231.212 - and his email addie is off planet.nl .

That does of course not prove anything.

I don't think there is a relationship. Tonnie is a recent newcomer, and acts European, if you don't mind my making that observation. Just another trusting person caught in the web.

I would not implicate anybody else! not yet anyway. Anybody know Weigman from somewhere else?

Hey Elektro,

Tonnie definitely lives in the Netherlands. I've sold him several Mankato boards and tempcos, so he's been a pretty good customer to Magic Smoke at least.

Randal is also real and definitely lives in Sacramento (saw him at AH Cali).

This may not prove anything either, though, in this case, it makes me doubt Tonnie Wiegmann is a Randal alias - Tonnie has ordered two Klee sets (Randal has ordered two as well).

I don't like the idea of selling Randal any sets, but it's one of those "I'd rather not go back on my word" moments, even though it is Randal. IE, I won't stoop to that level. I'm hoping Randal will just decline the boards at this point (lord knows there are others that would buy them).

Tonni seems dutch to me as well. I´ve told this to Lassi (softfin).

Still, Softfin is not pleased right now. he had expected Randal to make some kind of announcement on the 2nd.

Hey Tim, did you get a chance to actually talk to Randal? You say you saw him? I'm trying to get a picture of Randal in my head. I mean what kind of bloke is he?

Someone also said that Randal works a partner Question

Tonnie is genuine Dutch, I exchanged a few PMs with him about his family name - in dutch. He is a CUSTOMER of Randal as well BTW.

maybe that's all part of a 'master plan'? How much stuff has Randal bought from others- if any? If you say in the public forum that you want a board, others feel you are for real/ genuine? If actually you are saying publicly yes, but in fact you aren't bothering at all, all you are doing is getting others to trust you (by 'you' I mean Randal). A confidence trick. It could be malicious, or it could be that Randal is just a forgetful idiot. Question Just a thought.

Then there's all that stuff about the fires. Do you think that was the words of an innocent man or a bullshitter?

Maybe it was the "mfr" that burned up in the fire.

Tom, I still think that Randal is seriously messed up. Yes, he is bullshitting and he is lying and he definitively is messing with people´s heads. Still, I think he is primarily of interest to modern medicine and not a criminal. Proof? Hmm.. he is too messed up.. if this is fraud then it is not exactly highly effective. He is way to focused on his image and his grand plans. He probably hit the bottom some moths ago and now he is reworking his illusions. I don´t see any point in actually banning him, but I´d like to see him doing business elsewhere and I´d like to see that he delivers the PCBs as promised. It doesn´t matter if the boards are defective or whatever as long as he manages to deliver something and we can see the end of the QFG nightmare.

Howard, isn´t it reasonable that we could tell him to not do business here? He won´t get banned, but rather we won´t allow him to sell stuff here?

With the suggestions for PCB selling rules and such as proposed by Matthias and others, wouldn´t these rules exclude future potential Randals?

Yes. I rethought my ideas about him after reading that stuff about thousands of boards. I think that we are dealing with a Mickie Minor here- but I have always thought that. Come on Stein, no one knows who we are dealing with- it's the nature of this kind of comminity. I think when I mentioned all the things I had done or achieved, it was originally met with a lukewarm reception- ie "yes- right mate Wink ", only from slowly proving (and I've never really bothered about having to prove something online- although I now understand the importance of it), that yes all those things have happened over the last 20 or so years. I am also a terrible timewaster and take forever to get things together- especially DIY stuff, but I do admit that, unlike Randal.

Honesty. That's all it takes, and the one major problem with internet and all its forums etc, is that everyone all seems that little bit closer together- but actually we're not. Even going to London for the day (to meet up with Paul) is a major trek from here. I think if we were just in one big community hall together, none of this bollocks would have happened.

Forget Randal for a moment.

Implementing the rules suggested for PCB board offerings ( see other thread in the mod helper forum ) should hopefully prevent this from happening again.

Except from lotsa Randal related posts in the offstage area ( and luckily we have implemented use of recycled photons for this board ), all things Randal should be seen as a lesson. I´m not exactly sure about the full extent of this, but we should learn from this rather than simply be bashing Randal.

Yes. And call them rules, not guidelines. Rules are stronger.

I'm very much against rules Very Happy

But ... a while ago I PMed a bit with Nozzie after someone 'nuked' 'his' thread, and then he wanted to know what the rules are ... so maybe we should have them after all, but there is a danger in rules in that it's hard to deviate from 'm when you need to.

Good rules can be bent but not broken. We already have some in place, right? No spammers, no viral marketers. Shoot on sight, right?

I prefer guidelines.

Guidelines are better because they allow for the occasional deviation where a deviation is necessary. A rule is too strict. I prefer a more free society.

I feel a guideline would suit this forum better. The "one strike and you're out" or "you know the rules" thingie is a tad too authoritarian for my liking. I also like to know that there is a safehaven on the internet that I can go where I'm not likely to be told off or whatever.

Spanking I can tolerate, telling off I can't Exclamation Idea Laughing

Whenever we can refer to actual rules the better we are off. Some stuff shouldn´t really appear to be bendable and tweakable and ignorable.
