Please bear in mind that many people have had the idea of trying to profit from my hard work.
They usually come up with overly ambitious plans, ask for major concessions from me with no incentives, then use my lack of "cooperation" as an excuse to fail and shift the blame to someone else.
Please do not take any money from the customer until the case is absolutely completed.
And customers, please do not pay anything for these pipedreams until they are physically in hand and complete.
All this hyperbole sounds much too familiar for my comfort. |

I don't want to necessarily be a bearer of all things bad (couldn't think of an appropriate word), but Grant's Wogglebug is being cloned and offered here. Did whoever start this thread ask Grant for permission to reproduce this circuit?
Grant has enabled people to download the schematics- probably because they too were based on Don Buchla's Source of Uncertainty designs, but should people be allowed to call their units a "Wogglebug"? I mean the new JH Compact Phasing clone has been renamed the Krautrock Phaser, The SN-voice wasn't called the "DSC Mk3", even the wogglebug has been called a wogglebug instead of the source of uncertainty. If there are loads of Wogglebug clones floating about, doesn't this devalue the original module? What does Grant make of this?More to the point, should I ask him?
anyone want to chime in? _________________ ACHTUNG!

I've long wondered about that. I'm certain he's not unaware of it, but whether he's happy about it or not, he's never indicated. _________________ My Site |

I mean I personally am not against people doing a woggle circuit- I mean I have ONE module because that module was really stupid money (about 450 quid all in!!!!), but it may be a tad insensitive to call the cheaper clone a Wogglebug too? _________________ ACHTUNG!

Isn´t that comment partuially a response to the randal wogglebug buttplug solution?
Is Grant in here yet? Shouldn´t the guy be a member here and also a part of the behind the scenes DIY modness? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

No not really- although you do have a point
It's probably more about me fretting over the fact that I paid so much bloody money for mine and because there is now a clone with the same name, will mine be worth as much as I paid for it in the first place

I know Grant is a pretty busy guy, and he definitely doesn't march to any drummer but his own. I could be wrong, but I don't get the feeling he's terribly prone to participating in forums. I couldn't base this on any personal information - I think we've corresponded maybe once.
FWIW, I think a zillion DIY Wogglebugs could be made, and the value of an original Wiard Wogglebug wouldn't stop going up. That's not to say Grant would either approve, disapprove, or remain non-commital on the project.
I can't recall if there has been any mention of the Wogglebug PCB project made on the Wiard list. _________________ My Site |

He's a genius! And I don't understand why everyone just talks about the wogglebug. I spent hours figuring out this one:
http://www.musicsynthesizer.com/Neurons/Neurons1.html
We had some interesting discussion about whether it could go chaotic. (Probably not in its present form, but maybe with some thought and experimenting.)
