From what I have read in the Clavia webpage, the only difference between the original Nord Lead 2 and the Nord Lead 2X should be the higher amount of presets and user patches, and the better quality DACs.

But I now have some doubts that I would like to clear. Recently I bought a Nord Rack 3 and I found severe differences between it and my other 2 Nords (NL2X and G2). For example, when using the pitchbend or the modwheel, in the NL3 you can clearly hear the steps at which the midi data is received. You can even hear the steps of the global vibrato LFO (but not if you use an internal LFO to articulate the frequency).

In contrast, both the NL2X and the G2 interpolate between any CC# you send to them, creating very soft and pleasing sounds when modulating the filter or frequency values at high speed.

My question is, does the original NL2 behave exactly like the NL2X or is the last one more improved than it's said in the Clavia webpage? I suspect that the NL2X is in fact more improved, as it is even newer than the NL3.

I don't know if I expressed well myself, I could take some recordings to show what I'm talking about...

By the way, at first I was not very impressed by the NL3, but now I'm starting to see its strong points, specially when using the stack button. I also love the distortion effect in the oscillator modulation section. A bit of distortion (45º or less) sounds great to me...

And happy new year to all! Very Happy

Indeed, the Midi implementation was one of the difficult things concerning the NL3. At the other hand, the NL3 Key has a wonderful AfterTough, which I sometimes use to make PitchBends Smile It allows you to Bend one key and leave the others!

The sound engine of the NL2 and the NL2X are the same. Only improvement on the memory.

It's not the first time things like this happens! As soon as the product is out of production people discover it to be a wonderful thing Smile

Thanks for the answer Wout, Smile

I can't conceive that the original NL2 had parameter smoothing (like the NL2X) and not the NL3... how strange.
