Nord Lead 1 Subject description: Patches loading |
 |
|
Hi
I was directed to this forum by Clavia customer service. I am trying to load the patch number 4 of the sound library bank 2, but I do not know how to do it. I downloaded a kind of SysEx sending program, but I send the patch to my Clavia Nord Lead and nothing happens. Does anybody have experience in loading patches and can explain me how to do it properly? thanks. |

Hello everybody
Thanks for the material, Wout.
If anybody is wondering, I was directed to this forum after posting a question on Clavia´s offical website. Thomas Johansson, product manager from Clavia, sent me a link to tis topic in order to get advise from you. I guess it´s cumplimenting... .
Well, I have tried with the Nord Generator and also another program. None of them worked out, which is strange as it´s pretty clear that the synth at least sends MIDI and sysex info. When I send the patch, nothing happens, the synth stays the same. I sent a whole bank yesterday and it didn´t work much, but at least some changes were made on the current patch, which means that the data is at least sent from the computer. I guess it is the synth that does not work out properly in the ¨receiving¨ sysex function.
By the way, I got this synth second handed from eBay. It is my first Clavia synth. I was about to change it for a NL3 several times, but I just love it. The keys feel perfect and the sounds are so good. I just miss so much my ¨organrotorwheel¨ patch, which was on the sound library card, that ran out of battery recently, and perhaps some specific performances. For the rest, 100 sounds and some performances is more than enough for me. Is just that I want to recover the rotorwheel and a couple of performances.

Mostly on the Midi Interface.
What hardware do you us to send the Midi to the synth?
Or is it build in the computer.
Are you able to send Midi Notes, using a soft sequencer or something?

| I use an Edirol FA-66 to send and receive MIDI. I am able of receiving and sending MIDI, I use ACID pro 6.0 as sequencer, and works fine with the synth, recording, playing and editing MIDI. Mainly, I think when I send the patch, the MIDI Sysex info arrives to the synth, but the synth does not respond to this arriving SysEx info. Everything else works fine. I am thinking about both take it to reparison, perhaps, or also try get another library card nr.1 second handed, or perhaps trying to get an empty one and copying the patches into it with another NL, if I can find another one from somebody. |

I just down loaded the Edirol Manual at http://lib.roland.co.jp/manual/en/dl_05-06466/FA-66_e4.pdf
from which I learned it hasn't have a Midi Through function, so there's no solution to be found.
How about the Input Devise - Output Devise in NordGenerator are set falsely or are shifting (when Output isn't set to the first line, the Input is shifted one line more - yes, a bug) I'm just searching what could be wrong before you take it into repair...
BTW you can replace the battery of the PCMIA card.

Do you know perhaps how could I check if that is what is happening with the MIDI input and output?
It´s a pain in the ass with the MIDI of the NL. Today I was trying to sinchronyse the Arpeggio with an external MIDI clock, and while yesterday there was no poblem, today it jus didn´t work out.
By the way, somebody tried the Nord Lead 2? does it sound better than the Nord Lead? does it represent an imporvement over the original?
Thanks a lot

Decided to go for the next step |

Hi
After quite some fights with the NL1, I finally decided to move on and buy the Nord Modular. I think that is a completely different story, and I will not have problems anymore to connect to the computer and sinchronize both, as the NM is absolutely computer oriented. I also think that is a perfect complement to the NL1, as they cover different uses. I tried the NL2x but I just think that my NL1 is much better in terms of sound and keyboard action (there is a BIG difference in this last point, they just screwed the NL2x action). With both the NL1 and NM I can cover anything that I want to do, and use the NL1 keyboard as master keyboard, due to NM having a MIDI through connection.
Somebody knows how to get perhaps a second hand NM? I tried on ebay and marktplaats, and I cannot find a deal for less than 1000 euros. I don´t mind if the NM is not brand new at all. |
