i feel with you, scott.

i am suffering from several infections this year. first an infection of the pharynx (root treatment), then an infection from an insect bite, and last but not least a bronchitis, i still have not completely recovered from.
don't want to whine here, but after 4 months it can become really nasty, just because it will keep you from doing things you realy enjoy...

BTW, i try to forget randal.

Thanks, Mosc.

I'm feeling much better now.

Sorry to hear of your travails, Matthias. Things seem to come in waves, sometimes.

As for me, I had an appointment today with a throat-cutting-doctor-kind-of-guy. He's going to yank my tonsils first part of December. I figured it would be a week of down time. This guy told me to count on two.... Shocked

It's still got to be better than these recurrent throat infections.

I had my tonsils removed when I was four. They fed me a lot of ice cream during my recovery. Maybe every cloud has a silver lining. In any case, I don't remember any post operative pain. Hope your surgery goes as easily as mine did.

Yes - the ice cream is a definite benefit. Laughing

I certainly expected some period of throat pain, but this doc said that the reason two weeks is the norm is that it's a much different experience for an adult. He made no bones about it being an extremely unpleasant two weeks.

Scott, I'm also a sufferer of tonsillitis, but I've been able to avoid surgery, which is not good at all for adults Sad

I feel and hold your pain, Bro. Hope you make a really speedy recovery. Smile

Thanks, Tom.

This surgery is something I brought up - I'd say 4 out of 5 times I require a doctor has been because of the old tonsils. Like clockwork, the doc looks in the throat, describes it as a "mess" and prescribes antibiotics. I could phone in the order and it'd do as much good, but I can't. So, I tendered the possibility of removing the damn things and he said it would "probably" help. At this point I'm willing to try anything.

Cheerios,
Scott

Hey Scott,

Hope you're feeling better soon, and that removing those pesky tonsils will improve things in the future!

DATELINE: Mountain View, CA, November 14th
Randal shows up at the AH Nor Cal synth gathering! Yes, boys and girls, he DID show up. He was there looking at every display and asking a LOT of questions. My wife (Mrs. Servo, the Official Magic Smoke Booth Babe) managed to snap a couple of pics of the elusive Randal in his natural habitat. I will post these tonight.

He asked several questions and even bought a board from me. Funny thing is, he came back later when I wasn't there and was asking my wife for all sorts of info - to which she had absolutely NO answers (I love her, but she is NOT a synth expert - next year she is going to bring "Synthesizer Widow" t-shirts to sell). He did bring two Ghetto Racks and donated them to the auction, which I thought was nice, but he otherwise kept a low profile. Personally, I would have brought Ghetto Racks and whatever else I had sitting around to show off. If he had some inventory, he probably could have made several sales at the show... something tells me he doesn't have any inventory, or at least not any spare stuff. Anyway, I'll post a pic or two tonight.

Tim, did you get the willies after talking to him? If you say no, I will feel better. If you say yes, then I will shiver. Smile

@Scott: LOL, nicely chosen "Pink Panther" quote. Smile

@Mosc: Actually, R is generally quiet and very polite around me. It's almost like he's intimidated, and believe me, I'm about the least intimidating person on the planet. I'm about as fierce as a bowl of yogurt. The odd thing is, he waited until I was over talking to Paul S. and THEN he came over to look at my stuff and ask my wife a bunch of questions. He asked about the new oscillators I was showing off, and was REALLY curious about the new DVD from Thomas. He kept asking about it and how we knew Thomas and on and on. Now, I've been selling the books and boards at these shows for a couple of years now. I only sell a few at the shows, but it's certainly not a state secret or anything, so I'm not sure why he's so fascinated by the fact that I still work with Thomas. So yeah, I get the willies because of the fact that he waits until I'm gone and THEN starts sniffing around my stuff for info.

Go figure.

And here they is. This is actually the best one, as we were trying to be sneaky. Still, this gives you a pretty good idea of what he looks like. He's about 5' 7" with a medium build and dark hair with a moustache, officer.

Yep, that's him! He's the guy in the grey shirt and light colored pants. No glasses this time, but that's definitely him, officer. And in the same blog, a few pictures down, the idiot in the red t-shirt is me!

this is strange. i mean, in my mind/head for myself i created a picture of him. very different from what i see now. to think that this guy causes so much trouble, chaos, disorder... one proof more that you just can't judge people from their exterior.
