hey wout,
just wondering where i can find some classic sounds for my lead 2. i was looking for some rhodes patches and maybe a grand piano patch to get that authentic sound out there. ive looked on the nord user archive here http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/020_NordLead2/
and found some stuff, but wasnt impressed. basically im looking for acoustic sounds. is it even possible on a VA synth like mine?
thanks

First things first...
You're directing this post to me, which I think is not quite correct...
I'm the moderator of this forum, yes, and I answer very often, sure, and maybe I know some more about the subject, I don't know, but I'm not the NordLead community My efforts are dedicated to build this community. For the record: I don't want to leave questions to be unanswered. Just take a look at other forums dedicated to our subject...
No offences! | Quote: | | just wondering where i can find some classic sounds for my lead 2. i was looking for some rhodes patches and maybe a grand piano patch to get that authentic sound out there. i've looked on the nord user archive here http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/020_NordLead2/ | In my opinion the true authentic grand piano sound is only made by a grand piano, but that's a very easy answer A synthesizer is designed to create all the other sounds which don't exists already. The grand is one of the most difficult instruments to emulate, because the lower pitched notes are rather different from the higher ones and the tone itself is much to complicated to create using only one synthesizer, but one could be getting close. Or even find very interesting new sounds! | Quote: | | and found some stuff, but wasn't impressed. basically i'm looking for acoustic sounds. is it even possible on a VA synth like mine? | Putting two things together...
Let's try to create some sounds, here, in the 'community', rather then just throwing in some attachments. I suggest the following:
Find a Program (Patch) which reaches almost the results you want and publish it here.
Try to describe what's wrong about it or what is still missing.
Try to find some mp3 (or create it yourself) of the sound you want to get.
Try to find some information on the Net about the accoustics of the original sound. Surely somewhere somebody ever published something about the grand piano or another instrument?
I suggest to take some time to find these things, let's come together within two weeks, over here
Important to note: Performances can be very useful here, because one can create sound on four synthesizers in one go. For example a fading string sound can use four different AmpEnvelopes, which are IMHO a little less to create a grand, but lets experiment!
BTW keep in mind there is no Keyboard Scaling other then the CutOff Frequency of the Filter (The Lead isn't a NordModular...)
