Please forgive me if I am in the wrong forum or site, I have no prior knowledge of any technical nature involving MIDI or anything. I just picked up a used Nord Electro 2 (61 key) and all I want to do is upgrade the OS to the latest version. My question is, how do I hook it to my PC to do that? I know I can use a USB to USB for downloading new piano sounds and such, but that doesn't seem to work for the OS upgrade. Can somebody tell me what I need to do to get the upgrade done? I googled and searched for a couple hours with no luck, and there's no tech support number for them. Thanks!!!

welcome weaponsofmassdysfunction

At
http://www.clavia.se/main.asp?tm=Products&clpm=Nord_Electro_2
you find the update software, which also contains an updating Wizzard.
You'll need two Midi cables and a Midi Interface to your computer.
If all is there, updating is rather easy.

The latest verion is V3.04, which shows on display when booting the Electro. If it's there allready, no need to update, because new ones won't be published anymore.

The part I am confused about is the hookup to the computer. What kind of setup do I need to connect the 2 midi cords to my computer? Is it a separate box or do I need a new computer? Please forgive me, I have ZERO knowledge on this, just an organ player with a bad back and a small living room looking for an easier way.

Yes a separate box, maybe something like http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Uno.html or see http://www.zzounds.com/cat--USB-MIDI-Interfaces--2434 for some alternatives. For your current purpose you can use the simplest ones, 1x1 types (having one MIDI in and one MIDI out).

But first check out which version is allready installed. The display must read 30.
