Multi-Midisetup in Nordlead 2x |
 |
|
I want to setup in performance mode two slots on the left and to slots on the rhight hand.
Two of these, one left, one right should sound with the internal voices of the lead 2x only, the other two, one left and right should sound with an external synthmodul only.
Is this setup possible with the Nordlead 2x?
Or another example: I want to play an internal slot on the left hand and an external voice with the left hand too, but on the right hand I only want to play an external voice, f.e. on the left hand an internal synthpad with an external stringpad and right hand an external Grandpiano. |

Well, you are the agent, aren't you
| Quote: | | I want to setup in performance mode two slots on the left and to slots on the rhight hand. | Just use Keyboard Split, A & B on the left, C & D on the right.[quote]Two of these, one left, one right should sound with the internal voices of the lead 2x only, the other two, one left and right should sound with an external synthmodul only.[quote]The first part is the normal situation, so no problem. For the two other Slots, just turn down the Gain (at the right upper corner on the Panel). These two Slots will send their Midi on two channels which are the same as the two external sound engines. But these will sound together with the NordLead internal ones, of course: so playing note meant to sound in the silenced Slot B controlling the external sound will sound in Slot A, which is internal, too! Controlling can be done using just two sounds, one internal and the other external, played by a Split Keyboard. About the first suggestion I wonder whar you want to do with such configuration...
| Quote: | | Is this setup possible with the Nordlead 2x? | As I understand you well, NO! In fact the Lead isn't a controller, but a synth | Quote: | | Or another example: I want to play an internal slot on the left hand and an external voice with the left hand too, but on the right hand I only want to play an external voice, f.e. on the left hand an internal synthpad with an external stringpad and right hand an external Grandpiano. | This one is possible, as long you keep in mind the synthpad and the stringpad will play the same notes (or the external sound engine can be configured to react in a special way to incoming Midi?) and to turn down the Gain of any Slot for the right hand (or don't activate).
Did I wrote about the Midi controllers of the NordLead? The knobs only send Midi when the Slot is active and in focus, which means the LED flashes The Midi data is send by the Midi Channel set for that particular Slot. When the Gain is silenced it can be used to control external gear, although not the Gain, of course, because the Slot will sound again) and the control numbers are fixed, sadly (I hope the external gear is a free too assigned CC# synth, like the Nord Modulars) It takes a lot of Midi mapping.
As I wrote in another mail today, a handy tool like MidiMod on the computer can be used to change the Midi mapping of the Nordlead2. It can do more, like delivering more LFO's to the NordLead.

Although I think your question is more lice-gig related, in the studio is a nice tool. A change in the mapping could result in this example, concerning the Filter Cut Off frequency. Slot D is silence and in focus and its Midi Channel is set to 4.

Ok, I understand, and in fact, the second setup is, what I am looking for, because I want to use the Nordlead with my SonicCell-Modul, which has the same patches as a Juno-G. I want to layer the Nordlead sounds with some of the SonicCell sounds in a live-setup, so therefore was my question.
Concerning controllers:
If I want to controll f.e. cutoff on a SonicCell-patch, is this possible with the cutoff control-knob of the Nordlead, if it is connected to the right midi-channel?
In other words: is the Nordlead an instrument for such a live-setup? |

I can't open Roland SonicCell's manual (typical Roland: Site looks good, but doesn't function so I can't find out what SonicCell uses, if it is freely assign able, so a laptop running a tool described in that other mail could be helpful then... Map changing can also be done by the Clavia G2

Thanks Wout. I checked some of the controller numbers in the soniccell and they seem to be the same.
I thought that the midi standard is a standard so that controller numbers of what gear ever should be identical? |
