NordLead(1) Arp and SysEx related to Midi problem |
 |
|
Splitt from http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-32097.html
Well, yeah, when I think about it I always end up thinking that NL1 is also a fantastic synth, and as I have discovered lately it is not really possible to emulate it with a G2. I was trying this weekend a Nord Lead 2X and wow! it is quite a machine! I really liked some sounds. It is just that I miss some strings or some mellow sounds, or even some complicated sounds with sequencer etc. Also I guess my NL1 has got a bit old, and it is worth to make some revision and update of it. I understand that the NL2 itried was just new in the store, and that also makes a great effect. Also, the Sysex and some MIDI capabilities do not work as they got in malfunction with time. Perhaps a technical service overview would be a great thing to do. |

It has most of the NordLead1 features, though, only other DA converters and more memory | Quote: | | I really liked some sounds. | Well, it´s just that when I try to fix the arp rate to an external midi clock, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn´t. Also I have problems when sending to the NL1 patches via Sysex, it just blinks strangely and ignores the incoming patch, not to mention about saving it... . I think everything that ties to MIDI does not work, it just tries to but never does. |

The Manual, download able at

writes | Quote: | Please note that this only makes the LFO restart at the specified note value. In between those restarts, the LFO runs at the rate set with the Rate knob.
Therefore, to “hard sync” the LFO to the tempo of the song when triangle or sawtooth waves are used, set the LFO rate as close to the tempo in the sequencer as possible. On the other hand, unusual Rate val-ues can lead to interesting rhythmic effects.
When random is selected (or when the Arpeggio is used, see below), to “hard sync”, you only need to make sure the set rate is lower than the rate imposed via MIDI. |

Do you use a PCMCIA card or not? Can you send me an example of the SysEx file?
Anyway, Midi is not implemented very simple in the NordLead, for sure
