Problem changing sounds in a performance?? |
 |
|
Hi I've only had my nord rack 2x for a short time and I'm trying to figure out how to edit the different sounds in a performance.
As I understand when you press the slot you want to change the green light flashes on and off and this is the sound that will change and the others won't be effected.
At the moment say I want to change filter frequency on slot B I select it(green flashing light)but the filter frequency changes on slot A also...
Am I missing something in the set up. I'm using it with Ableton to sequence.
Thanks in advance for any advice

I assume you are playing a two Slot performance, which means Slot C and D LED's aren't lit? Most likely both Slots are set to the same Midi channel (check by [Shift+Unison=MidiCh] and select Slot A and Slot B after each other to find out both are set to Midi channel 1 or not...) If so the Filter Cut Off parameter will send Midi Out which is echoed by a Midi Through function in Ableton (which I'm not familiar with BTW).
There are several solutions to the problem...
1 Try to find in Ableton something like a Midi Filter and enable Midi Through.
2 Make the NordLead stop sending Midi Out...
Just press [Shift+2xSlotD=PrgCtrl/CC] and the LCD shows probably [C.on]. Using the Up/Down arrows set this to [C.off]. Now it will stop sending, but also when you want to record the CC's in Ableton...
3 After checking the Midi channels of Slot A and Slot B, change Slot B Midi channel into a higher number then Slot A. Now Slot A won't receive the changes anymore, because both Slots will have different Midi channels. You can still use the keyboard to hear the complete Performance AND it won't interfere playing the sound using Ableton, as long nothing is send over the chosen Midi channel of Slot B. Slot B will always react to the incoming Midi signal of Slot A (which is the left most active Slot viewed from Slot B)
BTW when there is a MidiThrough loop Slot A also controlling Slot B, then the Midi Through in the computer has to be disabled. I understand Slot B is controlling Slot A, isn't it?
An easy question...
Comprendo???
Feel free to ask if not!

I have slot "A" set to channel 1 and slot "b" to recieve on channel 2. I have a track in ableton for each so I can play in to each via my midi keyboard. I have slots c & d set to off in midi but there is something loaded in each. How do you delete a sound from a slot in a performance??
Oh so much to learn lol...
I havn't been able to find midi through settings in ableton yet. I was kinda hoping to leave the midi send on so I can record automation in ableton also.. Thanks for taking the time to help.

You didn't told me this Anyway, just playing by channel 1 will do, because Slot B, although set to channel 2, will follow Slot A | Quote: | | I have slots c & d set to off in midi but there is something loaded in each. I created a 'Zero' Program which doesn't make any sound, which I use to 'clear' unwanted sounds in Performances, although just setting the Gain (most upper right parameter) will do the same. | Quote: | | Oh so much to learn lol... | You don't even know yet how much | Quote: | | I havn't been able to find midi through settings in ableton yet. Ye its the rack version..
Think I've got it ..
The clip I was using had some automation in it already.. It was just re setting itself every time the clip looped.
Which made me think the volume wasn't working on slot B.
Not quite got my head around chasing midi either. Have read about dumping the setting so the synth can re set but no idea how to do this. Do I have to record it into Ableton?? Had a look for other posts on this but couldn't find any... Sure someone must of asked about program change messages and the like ???
In general enjoying using my nord tho. It's alot of fun learning.
