Currently on ebay there is a Nord Lead on a very high 'buy it now'.

Intrigued at the price, I studied the photos very closely and noticed that the top right hand corner was straight and not cut.

When I messaged the seller, the reply was that it is a very rare version of the original before the nord lead 2 was introduced in 1998.

Has anyone come across, or have one of these.

edit - photo hosted on eBay, and will likely disappear shortly after auction ends

Hi,

Just thinking about that. Does it indicate that it is a Lead 1 electronics dressed in Lead 2 metal work?

Yeh, that's the one.

Bit odd that this wasn't on the descrption and also didn't show his answer to my question. As it is a considerably high price you'd think it would have been mentioned.

Yeah.

Even though it may be rare, I would prefer the original, with nicer metal work. I think it is a stand out feature of the Lead 1 keyboard.

I totally agree, it wouldn't be a Nord Lead (1) without that wonderfully crafted cut corner.

Cheers for your input matey, I appreciate it!!

If it is a pre production version, I'm sure Clavia isn't happy it is on sale on ebay, because they always ask you not to put it on sale, whatever! I wonder who the seller is, then...

I have seen another Nord 1 without the cut out corner on ebay(230366279307). This one seems a little more reasonable in price in better condition.
Hope this not is getting to boring now, just find it a little odd. Becoming a right little Nord Spotter I am.

Hi. In this video Tomas from Clavia points out an original Nord Lead with the cut corner as being one of the early models, if that helps.

Yep, most of us know the 'original' MordLead has its edges, but always two of them, not only one, as a go-between design of the NordLead1 and NordLead2...
