I'm going to buy a Nord Lead1 -actually rack1- but like Autechre and the guy here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwidT13MNBA uses I need v2. Since I dont know and have any Nord stuff what is v2 actually? whats the difference? and is it upgradeable?

welcome randombrein

The NordLead (NordRack) has been updated by a e-eprom to get some more functionalities and bug fixes. When booting the synth it will show a number. [2,3] is the latest version. If not, you can ask your nearby dealer to get you a new e-eprom from Stockholm. This will take some time, though.

If the Rack doesn't show the letter [E], it does mean it isn't expanded. Therefor it has only four Voices for four Slots, rather limited. Furthermore you aren't able to use PCMCIA cards, so it's impossible to save a Performance without a computer.

Don't go mistaken the V2.3 with the NordLead2 and NordLead2X. These are completely new versions of the synth and bare their name on the hood...

Wout
