Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue, I've been fighting bad sound on my NL3, it has the same aliasing sounds as notes decay as a cheap casio (reminds me of the tonebank 20 I used to have). Especially smoother sounds like, for instance, a simple sine wave sound with a long release. It sounds better with the volume up all the way, and worse with it down, which makes sense as the volume control is digital and you'd lose resolution when turning it down. Sounds identical out every output too. You'd never notice in a band, but it is noticeable by itself, and my ears can't be that sharp after years of playing loud music...

Clavia was good enough to send me a calibration procedure for adjusting the DAC's with an oscilloscope, but they were adjusted right, and the rest of the tests everything was normal. Also, I managed to find and try another NL3, and it had the same bitcrushed, aliased decay. My NL2 has pristine sound on similar patches, I'm curious if other NL3 owners have this, or could the two I've played be broken in an identical way?

Thanks, just wondering is anyone else is having a similar experience.

welcome Ben Milner

I never noticed it, but I dont use thye Lead3 that much. Wilol take some time out to investigate. To get everything the same, can you send the Patch in SysEx format as an attachment?

Wout

Thanks for checking on yours, Wout, the sound is nothing special, just any sound without much high end that slowly changes amplitude exhibits the trouble, or a similar effect can be had by wiggling the Master Level.

How is Den Hague? I played a small show there last spring at "The Finger" and the people seemed especially cool...

Here's a funny toy piano sound performance for the NL3 I got off it for fun while it was hooked to the computer:

I've never noticed any serious aliasing with my NL3, but my ears are far from golden and I don't usually play notes too high.

Still, I know aliasing when I hear it (it's one of my favorite effects), so I'll try to test your patches and see how bad it is.
