Hello all,

I'm new to these forums, just signed up! I have a quick question about the Nord Wave. I just purchased the Wave and have been loving it so far, extremely versatile and powerful synth!

I have a quick question, is it possible to control the pitch of OSC 1 to match the pitch of OSC 2 when you have a sample loaded in OC2? I have my own unique sampled sounds that I created that I want to use in the sample OCS 2, however these home made samples are not in tune and I'm looking to blend both OSC 1 and 2 for more unique tones. I know you can change the Semi tones of OSC 2 to match OSC 1, but can you do the reverse? I don't want to change the original pitch of OSC 2, I'd rather have OCS 1 match the pitch of my samples. If there is no way of doing this, any suggestions to blend the OSC so they are in tune with eachother so I can create more interesting tones?

Thanks in advance!

What about transposing globally and then shifting OCS2 back to pitch?

yeah, the problem is i don't want to change the pitch of OSC 2 that contains the sample, I want OSC 1 to conform to the pitch of OSC 2. I was also thinking if I can not control OSC 1's pitch, I could create another instrument on a separate slot and use the other OSC 2 slot to blend both slots and adjust the pitch control of the second OSC 2 to generate more complex sounds....haven't had a change to try that yet.

welcome ryeNice

fibreman wrote exactly what I would suggest you.
First set the complete synth into the Pitch Osc1 has to be tuned in.
Then fine tune Osc2 (the sample) down (or up)
It will sound the same as it was before...

thanks for the suggestion, but would that affect the rest of the the programs globally? or just for this specific patch? i don't want to throw the whole keyboard off for other songs.....

...sorry, I'm very new to the Wave, just trying to understand the programming.

thanks!

This would affect the whole synth! I mean Osc1 and Osc2 will both be detuned. Maybe its better to try something withe the pitch of the sample?

I think you are doing quite well here Smile

Thanks, I will mess around with this, I'm sure I can find a work around. Using both slots is probably the easiest way, I can just use OSC on slot 2 for example and find a nice waveform to layer on top...i'll post my findings!

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated!

Sorry, it should only affect that single patch, you're using the octave up/down buttons, not the global transpose.

I knew what I meant!

Obviously this may affect the timbre slightly on some of the sampled sounds i.e strings, for most samples it's not really that noticeable.

Another way of doing this is to use the AD/AR mod envelope on the pitch of OSC 1 with no attack and the decay/release paramater all the way up. When the decay/release knob is all the way to the right you'll see on the display screen it says "inf. sustain" which seems to just lock whatever value you have set.

You can also use LFO 2's single cycle squarewave lfo on OSC 1 and set it to the slowest time.

Hope this helps,

Norm~
