Nord lead2 not booting as it should?? Subject description: power cable or something |
 |
|
Hey guys,
from one day to the next without hardly doing anything on my lead, it's not correctly booting anymore. Sometimes, like once in four times, it does however work as it should (weirdness?),
When I push the power button, the display only shows a random number and there are no other lights blinking, neither is there output to hear or anything else.
I feel that it might be something with the power input, I also once sandwiched the power cable in my flight case (shame on me ), it didn't break though and that was a few weeks before the nl started to misbehave.
Now I got a lead 2 that is sometimes working as if there's nothing, and sometimes doesn't do a thing. Any ideas on replacing power cables or if it could be some other problem? |

First open the synth and check all cables. Open all the slots, remove one end of the cable and inject it again.
If this doesn't help phone M-Works or in your situation: "Ga er effe langs" (Ceintuurbaan, schuin tegenover Feedback), because surely it would be the power supply.

thanks for the quick answer wout.
Opened it up today, and everything looks pretty fine actually. Bought it second hand but I think it's still quite new actually, thats what it looks like inside at least.
The power cable looks like it can be easily replaced without the need of professional help,
but I'm a bit stuck getting it out of there with this -->
Is there a way to remove it without sabling out the whole thing with a knife? |

It looks like what you have is a strain relief that goes into a hole in the chassis. If so, then the part that's in the upper left portion of the strain relief is separate from the rest of it, and is kept in place by pressure generated by the insulation of the wire that goes through it.
Take a pair of needle-nose pliers, grasp that part of the strain relief and the part that's opposite it on the other side of the wire, and squeeze gently. If I'm right, that part will move a little bit. What you need to do is squeeze hard enough to move that little piece of the strain relief enough that you can pull the whole thing, wire and all, out through the hole. |

Before removing any cables check the flat ones between the boards...

removed and injected all the flat + the power cable, but didn't take out anything yet cause I wanted to see if it'll be working now.
Screwed it together and the problem remains as it is and now I get the Pitch bend error (if it starts correctly)!
Gonna visit M-works today... |

Ok, also fully replaced the whole power cable, problem remains as before. Gotta send it to repair when I got some money together again.
Really bad luck I must say, just bought it 2 weeks ago 2nd hand and it was perfectly in order back then. |

I noticed my 2 doesn't always start correctly if there's a MIDI issue. At first I too thought something was wrong with it's power supply. Check the order in which you are starting up your gear as maybe it's getting a wierd MIDI message. I usually make sure to power my NL2 before powering my sequencer. _________________ http://soundcloud.com/adsr-todd-nickolas |

Indeed, Nords are known to be very sensitive to incoming Midi data.
I forgot about that issue.
Mostly it is the NordLead3 who is making troubles about this...
