Lead 2x Sticky Buttons |
 |
|
| I just purchased a used 2x from ebay and I've noticed upon my initial run through that it has some sticky buttons. The shift, velocity, distortion, and arpeggiator buttons are all sticky to some degree. Some feel like they're soft, don't really push down, and don't have that nice click feel to them while others click but sometimes get stuck down. I live in Louisville and the nearest repair shop to here is about 2 hours away so I'm really hoping for a DIY solution here. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I may rid myself of this nuisance? Thanks a lot. |

Surely there hasn’t been a cup of coffee with lots of sugar fell into it, because the trouble is on both ends of the Panel. Mostly these trouble are the result of not using the synth for a long time while leaving it uncovered so dust can do its job or because the former user also was the singer in the band… Dust and dry moist are easy to remove on the outside before selling, but harder when it is also in the synth, mostly the buttons.
Are the buttons functional?
If so, leave it for a month of two while using the instrument every day.
If it is still wrong, open the synth [see: http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/020_NordLead2/Red_Lady/Index_bestanden/Red_Lady/115-230_vica_versa.htm] and remove the PanelBoard very slowly: watch out for pushing the LED’s out of place; it takes much longer when replacing it in the hood! Clean the sides of the buttons and the rims of the holes with boiled water and some cotton, leave it to dry and replace the circuit board.
If the buttons are not functional take the two hours ride…

| It doesn't seem like something's been spilled on it because the buttons themselves aren't sticky, they just stick when pushed. 'Ol dude that I bought it from said that it just sat in his studio and I'll believe it given the insane amount of dust that was on it when I received it in the mail yesterday. They are all fully functional though which is a good thing. I'll try out your suggestion and just play on it and see how they turn out here in the next few weeks. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated. |
