[NordRack2] Will this CF->PCMCIA Adapter work ? Subject description: CompactFlash to PCMCIA Adapter (costs way less then PCMCIA cards and no battery needed) |

Hey,
I was wondering if this CompactFlash to PCMCIA Adapter will work in the Nord Rack 2:
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=440
The reason I'm asking is, because PCMCIA SRAM cards are pretty hard to find and if you find any, like on Thomann.de they cost like 100-120euro's.
This adapter is only 16,19euro's and a 128mb CF card on that website is only 5,98, so you can buy about 18 of them for the price of 1 real card. (or 20euro's for a 4gb CF if those 128mb really only work on the amiga as they say that on the website below when you select a card with the adapter)
Please if someone has tried any of this let me know if it's going to work, because I'm not really planning on buying a card for 118euro's as that's about a third of the price I paid for the NR2 itself. And besides, if you buy a few CF cards you have enough memory for a low price.
Many thanks. _________________ -GriZZly |

Synth recognizes the card, but can't format it, so it useless...

Hey,
Thanks for your fast reply, but can't you format it in windows then? What filesystem does it use, FAT/FAT16/FAT32 or it's own filesystem?
I can format my smartmedia cards in windows to FAT for my Yamaha RS7000 _________________ -GriZZly |

I can't recall it anymore, because it was some time ago.
I believe using the computer didn't work either, but I'm not sure...

Hey,
That's a pity, but maybe I'll try it anyway, because it's so cheap.
Many thanks anyways and I'll let it know here if it works or not. _________________ -GriZZly |

It does not work!
I have tried a CF-adapter with a 8MB card. The card is formatted, the patch is saved with no errors, BUT when the patch is recalled nothing was saved
You must find a smaller card, or buy the expensive PCMCIA of 64kbyte/512kbit. _________________ Today: Access Virus KC, powercore virus, dw6000
