My Electro-music NYE 2011 set Subject description: Performed on my DIY analog synthesizer
Hello! Here is a recording of my set and some notes.
The entire set was performed on my modular analog synthesizer. I use a Looperlative LP-1 to create loops in real time.
Note that the Mega Percussive Synthesizer and Klee Sequencer are popular modules and one can purchase the circuit boards at the electro-music store.
I am grateful to be included in the electro-music streaming events and am grateful to the designer/engineers who create fantastic synthesizer circuits. Also I am thankful for the great music, inspiration, support, and ideas from everyone here in the electro-music.community.

I opened with Les Hall's Karplus/Strong VCO. All the sounds are from the k/s -- no filters or other processing.
7:15
The sound is a triangle wave processed with the CGS Wave Shaper and filtered with the Yusynth Transistor Ladder filter (Minimoog clone). I used the Klee Sequencer and created sustained notes by sampling the Klee's output with a sample and hold.
17:00
This transitional section utilized random slow noise (i.e., random voltage) as a modulation source.
19:00
Beat making with the Thomas Henry Mega Percussive Synthesizer module.
23:00
The sound is white noise processed through the CGS Bi-N-Tic filter and, in turn, filtered through the Aries filter in bandpass mode. I utilize the Klee Sequencer's gate switches to select the steps to be triggered.
27:30
This ensemble sound consists of triangle waves mixed and processed with the Aries Phaser module. The bass is a sine wave processed through the CGS Modulo Magic module. Incidentally, I utilized only one keyboard for this and took advantage of the keyboard's two-voice polyphony. By tuning the VCOs in intervals, a texture that suggests a fully polyphonic instrument is possible.

Ah so it was KS, we had some discussion about it in the chat.
Really liked your set Kevin, glad it went well too this time
Thank you! Really glad that you liked it.
I had to leave right after the set and I didn't get a chance to look at the chat -- glad I answered the k/s question.
I made some resistor value changes in the expo converter and got decent v/8ve tracking out of my k/s. I'm running with a 256 stage bucket-brigade chip -- I have a couple more k/s PCBs and plan to build others to utilize the 1028 and larger BBDs -- will likely get some "uberbass" sounds out of them.
Indeed, my primary goal was to get through a set without some kind of hardware/software problem. Next time I will increase my buffer size a bit -- I think that is the source of a few glitches in the recording. _________________ -- Kevin http://kevinkissinger.com

This is a partial recording of my set. Unfortunately I missed the first track and there are a few clicking sounds in there due to ASIO4ALL acting up. Hopefully you'll enjoy it anyway.
By the second half of the recording I'm pretty much improvising to fill in time.
Thanks to everyone for such a fantastic event. It was a pleasure to be apart of it.

Had a GREAT time playing this NYE...
Which was the 1 year Anniversary of Acid Trash's first performance (which was here on last years NYE...so yes....it's been great to be able to learn and grow with you all here. Much love for electro-music.com!!
As those who caught our set know, our computer blew up halfway into the performance, was just pushing everything waaaay too hard!!!!
Thank you PHOBOS for recording, saved our butt!!
So it's split into 2 files, and also here's a video excerpt.
If it plays slow, you can change it to 240p
Did anyone get a recording of the Twyndyllyngs set? I was having computer trouble and didn't want to interrupt the performance to try to resolve it, so we didn't get a recording here. _________________ --Howard
my music and other stuff
Maybe next year we could have a few dedicated kind souls to record everyones sets?
I'm sure I could coordinate with others, where each of us records agreed-upon segments. I know I would either miss the start or the end because of it being too early or too late for me. _________________ There's an invisible radio gnome playing a gong from a flying teapot - don't miss out!
Music by myself, John Pearson, and vocals by Yashashwi Sharma.
Thanks to Audiodef for streaming our performance.
You're very welcome. Really nice piano - who played that? _________________ There's an invisible radio gnome playing a gong from a flying teapot - don't miss out!
