So I'm interested in getting a Casio CZ3000 but it's a bit expensive and it's heavy and big.

Then I found out about this Mothman Z3000 - http://justinrobert.wordpress.com/tag/mothman-z3000/

Is anyone familiar with this VST? It's being sold for USD 24 but a demo doesn't seem to be available.

So is it any good?

Hey ya´ll, yeah I did use the real hardware for the album. I was still developing the VST when I made the album. However, the sound of the VST is quite nice. I´ve used it in a lot of spots on my most recent album, Coruja. If you are looking for a free alternative, check out the mothman 1000. It is not as much like the CZ as the 3000, but does have PD synthesis, and is capable of creating very CZ-ish sounds. I´m sorry I haven´t been able to dedicate as much time to the z3000 as I´d like, because of work and other things, but hope to get back to it someday.
