Saving Sargent Ryan - Indecent...

Here's a shocking story. ABC was planning to broadcast the movie Saving Sargent Ryan tonight as part of the Veterans Day celebration. Some Decency in America organization is complaining to the FCC that they shouldn't show the movie in prime time because it is indecent.

I heard this and I thought there was some merit to their complaint. The movie shows people getting blown up and mutilated. What could be more indecent than graphically showing the horrors of combat.

Well, it turns out that what they are complaining about is that the film has a lot of "fuck" and "shit" being said by the soldiers who were fighting for our freedom. Ridiculous...

Personally I think "war movies" that show war as a clean stage were people fall to the ground without any blood and bone fragments all over the place are the indecent ones.
The list is long.
Also.. in this context.. even complaining about this movie because they use words as fuck.. etc. is the real indecency.

Actually, I think this might be a good thing, in that it shows how absolutely extreme the FCC has made the rules for broadcasters.
