Progress on the Cynare. I think all of the wiring is ready to attach to the hardware now.
Still need to sort out transistors. I don't have any of the required 22222s, so will probably have to socket them and just keep trying transistors until it sounds right. I think the only critical one will be the noise generator, but not sure.
Not much progress on the electronics, but mechanical aspects are being dealt with.
Materials include: 2 aluminum "U" channels of different width, so that the diagonal brace fits inside the vertical member; bolts with wingnuts for tool-less set up and disassembly; mousepad under the 1/4" plywood base to prevent wobble, plus another piece to provide thickness and protect the wood from the clamp.
Here's an uninspiring sample triggering the Synsonic's Tom Tom 1 & 2 (both modded for lower pitch), first singly, then both together for a sort of surround sound bass. (Careful with your volume.)

Nice work Richard! Glad this worked out for you. It does seem very responsive. And, of course, I love the Synsonics! _________________ Synth DIY since 1977!
Thanks guys. There might be a V3 or V4, as I'd like it even more compact, with a smaller footprint, so there'd be no need to disassemble it to conserve space.

That looks great Richard!
Yours too! Cynare has a fun look. But why do you make so many speling mistaks? _________________ Revenge is a dish best served with a fork... to the eye

Well, I've just about finished with my modded Synsonics and this seems like the best spot for electronic percusion lately. The sound mods are all by our very own RichardC64. I have added individual trigger ins so my TH Midi to Trigger unit can control it under midi. All I did was add a diode from the hot jack to the analog trig in pins on U3.
I apologize for the crappy sound samples. I do not use my digital recorder (Zoom MRS8) very often and the results are less than stellar. But anyway, it does give you a feel of how much more aggressive the sound is than the stock unit. Perfect for your next NIN ripoff.
I still want to add individual outs for each voice......... because I want to buy a new mixer

Hello again!
So anyway, I've made some progress on this...
The 3 Coron DS8 modules now live in this very sturdy box and will be a standalone 9v battery device because I felt the sound wasn't as punchy as I was hoping for. Fully functional. It needs knobs and maybe a little single supply mixer.
I've added a Quad Bass++ to the equation and they currently live in this box, which is only temporary. Populated and all parts are collected, it needs a panel, wiring, and knobs.
This is the case where the final drum synth will live. It used to hold a realistic replica arm for medical training. I got it at a carboot sale so the arm's current whereabouts are unknown.
I will use the 4U CW standard described here, because a nice 1" grid makes sense to my brain.
Rough draft of what's going in.

And then maybe purchase a small external mixer for them to come together. I don't know, should I embed a mixer into one of those small pockets?
