PHOBoS - The moon is made of rubber bands

phobos

This track started out as an experiment for the June Solstice event. I had noticed that the metal hole saws I have
sound somewhat bell like and wanted to play around with these. To record them I placed them on my soundboard
(a serving tray with 2 piezo pickups mounted on it) and I added a rubber band as well, I think it was to hold a cable
in place. This rubber band actually sounded nice as well so I started playing with it and looped the sound with a pioneer
EFX 500. On top of this I played a melody using the Yamaha PSS-7. I also recorded some sounds using my Melody Mutilator
The recordings were mixed together and I added some other sound to it as well.

It was a nice track then - and it still is, in the office environment at least :-)

I'm not sure if I agree that the moon is made of rubber bands, but I like the track... thanks for sharing it!

I actually find "The moon is made of rubber bands" (the song, not the actual moon being made of rubber bands) sounds pretty amazing with the "fake" guitar strings mimicking the sound of rubber bands throughout. Another interesting thing about the song is those crazy (in a good way) outer sound effects....it seems that they compliment the rubber bands in a strange, yet "alienious" (for lack of an actual word) way, lol! Razz

Hahaha, yeah I guess you're right... it can't be the astronauts who are made of rubber bands, so it must be the moon!
