when i started on "noodle radio" there would be no search engine hitties for it - that was a reason to choose it - I have lost.
Likewise, "blue hell" - TRI VIA ALI SED -- that is following the 3rd road, which goes into nothing, crosses the styx and then all road signs seem to be missing. GAM IFI ED
3rd roads go no where .. dead ends .. on the cross roads it is .. ow .. left ... never mind.
The other experiment was PLOTTIX - another one search engines could do nothing with .. it is a word now it seems .. and as such was my intention, the .. when i came up with it .. this is not bad actually - except no one got it .. of course
Anyway, I did not feel like making more of the modular synthesizer noodles i had been making, for a couple of decades now, proper noodles for the noodle radio - so eh .. noodle radio is dead .. just as plottix is dead, of course, and blue hell is dead .. but those are other matterz.
I had wanted to change blue hell here .. except that the e-m forum does not allow me to do that the bastard .. behaving like ai ai ai .. what a waste.
I need new words goddammit
o .. i do have a luftbalon account here .. yes .. with that speling eror .. maybe i should go use it
---
on the good side .. i've got me a couple of new puters .. most of the of stuff works again streaming and browsing and i even have a fresh 4th system .. not that it can do that much .. but erm "1 1 + ." .. works
I need some new tools goddammit
so 'm looking into vcv, dunno, i do not want that, emulate a rack based modular .. are they nuts .. looking into golang .. dunno .. why is that horse on the wrong side of the cart .. swift then .. yeah well seem a bit appely .. webasm then maybe .. pff
anyway, radio 6 here is down, noodle radio has ended, thank you for your attention, and i have no good idea yet as to how to waste my time now.
Sorry for the spelingz .. amming a tad dunky drunky .. butteh okay otherwise.
oh and eh .. while all that .. god bless tru please .. and trum .. the .. erm the erm the erm the .. damn .. do i ever want to ever visit the :de je naait me steeds van amerika:
Hmm I noticed it was down earlier today. Not sure I understand the reason properly, I'll have to decipher your post.
Anyway, onwards towards other stuff I guess - change is good sometimes, even if it takes a bit of time to be the good kind. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum Bandcamp
Summary : I did not anymore feel like making new and or evolving old patches .. the last ones had been on for months .. at least one .. almost one then.
and yes .. I'll see .. when how what if. Something still is @ bluehell.nl .. mainly to help me fall asleep.
For someone with a brilliant plan I'll turn on electro-music.com radio 6 again.
Your post about this is poetic and sad. For years I have put my foot in the water to make generative music, noodles, using many different platforms. At one point I evern wrote my own language for the purpose. I've given up becuase the results were never musical enough for me.
In discussions with people, off-line and in person, the subject sometimes comes up. It's nearly impossible to come accross someone who admits to enjoying listening to GM, but many people love to make it. We can speculate about why that is.
Anyway, your noodles are, IMHO, unique; they are musical. I think you are the master of this medium. I don't say "a" master on purpose. When I encounter a skeptic about GM, I point them to Noodle Radio, Channel 6 here on e-m. I say, "Listen to Noodle Radio and reconsider".
Your noodles are one of the most significant parts of this community. I consider you a superb musician. I hate to see the channel not being there. There is a hole in my heart.
I understand you're not interested on working on these noodles anymore. I'm similarly feeling a need for an artistic change of direction.
As for the musical theives, this involves all of us. Something to discuss going forward. But, let's indeed do go forward... _________________ --Howard
my music and other stuff
Am off the continent right now .. will check it out once back home ... now trying to find out the cheapest way to send a nord modular to the netherlands .. not feeling like carrying another 4 or 5 kg on the trip ... sofar a good 30 euro with DPD .. but for check-in on the plane they want like 27 too .. and then the post office wants 100 or so
Anyway, lovely frosty weather here for anotgher day or so
ah, something non-automatic .. maybe .. got some suggestions like that while in Ireland too (from a nasturaly talented multi musician .. when i told him about what i had been playing for a bit in the past & what i did recently
Anyway, it looks like a nice thing, based on the hydra synth for which some people are really enthousiastic.
It seems to not be deliverable currently .. or not yet .. which will give me some time
edit2 : but :: although there are a few nice things .. it is all not very inspirational what I see .. so dunno .. will i spend like almost 1500 .. or dust off the wx11 and make some mudular contraptions .. the samples .. hmm cool .. but seem not so convincing .. otoh .. can do your own it seems.
I have the Hydrasynth desktop and I like it a lot, although the LFO's are a bit sluggish at audio rates. This might not be the case with their new Dio thing but something to keep in mind.
Although if you have a good wind controller already then it might not be that needed... _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum Bandcamp
Generative music gets the same attention as the likes of Eno's Music For Airports, it's just there in the background for most who are exposed to it. Much like soundscapes, etc, there's little intellectual or emotional attachment for either the listener or "composer," for a work- although AI might get around that- if it hasn't already. Not that I will be listening to it.
As a musician, being emotionally disconnected from your art is a non-starter. GM seems like a sure-fire way to make that happen.
it will almost always be music i had never heard (of) before, and then from time to time i'll hear something for which i'll want to hear more .. often it will then be available on bandcamp or youtube .. for more listening pleasure .. sometimes for more and more and .. erm more .
But if not of the 'for which' kind .. i've had to fast forward an episode once ... as it interfered with my car sounds in a nastily disturbing way .. it would have worked at home I guess
Not that this solves my music making block, but it /is/ great for solving my .. listening .. block
I have most episodes available as my car music, and will from time to time take a picture like attached .. to then look it up at home
[in the car I'm at 2018 .. at home listening to A Duck in a Tree 2025-12-06 | Stretch and Release - i may finish it all once]

Jan,
I completely understand your frustration with what the search engines are doing. If I looked up my own name or projects and saw them buried under anime memes, football rosters, or random internet noise, I’d be furious too. It’s not just “annoying” — it’s a fundamental disconnect between the work someone has actually done and the nonsense that ends up taking its place.
So I get why you’d look at that and think, “Why am I even bothering?”
That reaction makes perfect sense.
And I want to thank you — sincerely — for everything you’ve done to keep the electro-music.com community alive, and for making Wren available to all of us. Your work has made a real difference, both for me personally and for the community as a whole. _________________ -- Kevin http://kevinkissinger.com
I've - for now - for now - ewrm - well -- yeah -- well - maybe -- ended -- erm -- for then - ended -- up - buying that semi minified korg ms-20.
It came today - yes yes -- it arrived too - I'm so happy with it - i can midi control it from wren - possibly audio control too - it plays quite nice from my midi sax - even when there is nothing like CC2 .. that idiot keyboard ... got used to it in an hour or two .. can't play anyway
There are some silly things in it ..
- it needs a couple of multiples - or better attenuvertors .. patchable .. not coupled to anytyng.
- it needs osc out outs .. so i can route osc 1 seperatly to the vca .. and eh .. modulate it with eh .. noise . osc 2 .. oh it has ring ok .. with the external in .. whatever .. it needs them outs.
- and as it has no sines - filter outs as well.
- there were some more .. for would I have made that synth
but okay it is not a modular .. just a semi .. and I love it .. it has real knobs .. it sounds fine .. most routings i came up with are poosible .. not all ..
Anyway .. within an hour I was recording things from it that 'll want to kepp.

Up to the next .. will i buy a buchla? at least I'll not be going to do a rack full of modules .. will I .. that'd be just as bad as being religeous .. no .. hmm .. maybe not .. just as bad as very bad .. then ..
pff someone today predicted that to me .. i'd have racks full .. no no . not going to happen .. but htat buch :s
ow well .. got a new toy
The samples were sequenced by wren .. same audio came from it too.
- it also seems to be nice for filling in the dtails od this b-52 track i'm worj=king on .. nbut that is still stealth
- on we go - thanks for remarks - replies - comments -- go on with it
and yes - i need desk space

Those sound great! You can really make that filter scream. 01 was especially interesting - the patterns remind me of some of the stuff that Phobos does with logic circuits. _________________ JacobWatters.com
Thanks cebec, that site looks nice .. I .. of course! .. tried some self players .. but not as nice as those there ... I do have the tape ready too for taping down a key .. but what can work too is to patch the mod wheel to 'init gain'
But I'll have to look there again soon, bookmarked
I had been considering buying a 2nd ms-20 too btw .. and also would want to mod it .. on the list now is :
- a couple of multiples
- extra amp with a knob and +/- 5V clamp
- direct outputs for oscs and filters
- a true s&h .. or a pulse former mabey for the existing one (which is a track and hold I noticed)
- have to look at fm modulation
- switches for the VCO and VCF modulation .. to be able to un-combine EXT and EG
but i'm just writing down what comes to mind .. it is too new still for the drill press and the soldering iron
You're welcome. You're right -- that's a great hack to make it drone and what I use, too.
Also, feeding audio through the ESP and back into the Ext In. is great for adding grunge and getting all kinds of chaos from its outputs.
It's worth mentioning the MS-20M has these modifications:
- SYNC ON/OFF switch allows oscillator sync
- FM ON/OFF switch allows frequency modulation
- FILTER TYPE switch selects two filter types
- PWM IN jack allows pulse width modulation
- EG2 NORMAL OUT expands your sonic possibilities
- TRIG SW button is a convenient way to audition the sound
They also added 3 mults.
What I'd like most is individual VCO outputs for audio-rate FM. Or a faster LFO. I have an external VCO I sometime use and can confirm the MS-20 sounds great with audio-rate FM. _________________ http://www.soundcloud.com/cebec
It is a bit fiddlie .. and limited to 50s .. but then shaperbox can do it - cool!
It is a fragment of an ms-20 sound controlled by wren . . then curve sped up with shaperbox.
Now I wonder how they did that in the tape era .. would they just have done speed modulation on the tape transport during recording (finger on the reel)?

well, that was definitely low on my list of things I'd expect you to get. I'd put Ciat lonbarde above Buchla on that list btw.
Curious what made you decide to get it,. is it mostly just having something more tangible with real knobs and patch cables ? (I understand)
Is it the sound,. I mean are there things it can do you wouldn't be able to do with wren or your G2s ?
It being standalone,. so not needing a PC and running out of resources ?
I guess it ain't the keyboard.
let me unplug my ears for a bit to listen what's you've been doing with it.
sounds like synth alright, very nice.
I guess the more haunting background layers are done by processing (did this involve something that came from making it slower but not longer ?) _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!" SoundCloudBandCampMixCloudTwitchYouTube The Golden Shrimp Guild

Ah, need to check that one out too .. at least it is a lot cheaper .. buchla prices are nuts

- Not really the keyboard, no, although it is nice to be able to change pitch of course .. but to actually play something midi sax works better for me .. possibly trough wren.
- what made me
.. well first the super korg :: for instance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JA6I9ljx_Q [I had been searching for 'overbodige muziek' (superflueus music) .. which lead me to 'stichting com' ( https://stichting.com/ ) .. although that is not superfluous .. but 'oorspronkelijk' (original) .. then looked up Hero Wouters and also Bianca Holst :: there is a nice train concert :: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFBiw3UEfNg ]
.. then secondly .. the price .. just a tank of petrol .. well a couple .. but still cheap compared to other stuff.
.. [edit 2] .. lol .. yes the knobs
.. [edit 3] oh .. and maybe this again some day .. with guitar trough an env follower and a vcf .. and some synth module that was

- I forgot .. do not think so .. let me relisten ...
[Edit 1] not hearing any stretching stuff, but the dual filter can do some of that.
meanwhile .. with cooledit and doing a bit handy with the mouse .. one could make things like attached .. not in a live stream .. but live from a recording ...
I could use a tool for that too .. heh .. or make cooledit run on a mac .. but then again .. not sure if a touch plate thingie would work .. a real mouse seems handier there ...
Anyway .. this is from an old thing that i made from an old tv program .. and I did not have a tv anymore for like 30 years I think .. so .. old
