Hello, Im thinkin about buying an NL1, incredible value for the recent amounts it goes. Before I do this it would be great to see some shots on the inside Smile
So if someone planning to clean the insides recently , I would be pleased if some photoshooting takes place.

Im particularry interested:

-whether the DAC chip is socketed or not.
-amount of free space, in inches or centimeter.

thats right, im planning a dac upgrade, you might get a kit at the end, so do those pic Smile

I'm sorry, but I don't own a NL key, just the first Rack. NR and NL2 both don't have any sockets to mount the DAC on the board, just soldering...

Indeed, there is a lot of space left at the right side under the hood. In the NL2 (without the cut-away at the right corner) is 40 x 11 x 5.5 > 6.8 cm. The depth 11 is actualy 10, because the power cable is attached to the back inside.

I hope the NL is about the same size.

What do you want to build in?
Once friends of mine and me build some joy sticks into our NordModular Classic, but the knobs are freely assignable in that synth, so it has some use.
Maybe a controller for another piece of gear?

Oh, BTW, I will not upgrade the NR with a another DAC. I just like its raw edged sound! Very Happy

DAC should be the same as in micromodular , ad1865 or 1864.

I know the wordlength is somewhat strange, 18bit but I have a workaround (not LSB discard). And I go backwards in time Wink

In the picture there is a rather large chip just underneath the flat cable, which is folded over the PCB. Is that a converter (AD) to the knobs values?

Oops. A NL without expansion... Just four Voices...
