That's a clue; the behavior has changed with the move. I have a backup of the old server. I'll see if I can tell what changed. _________________ --Howard

Yikes, we just came out of about 10 hours of no network...
Anyhow, before the crash, I identified the cause if the thumbnails problem. The fix is very easy to implement. I wanted to test it and... -
Anyhow++ I'll get too it. It's next priority
That will clear the way for the performer's information editor. I hope we can use it for the Solstice Concert. _________________ --Howard

great, thanks for looking into it.
at the moment I have what might be the same issue that jan has/had, in that I can't login to the wiki.
I've tried clearing cookies but that doesn't help.
I like the Radio Ops tab at the top btw _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

Phobos: The thumbnail problem is fixed. Thanks for your persistence. I used the last few image uploaded to your garden topic to verify. Please let me know if it passes muster. _________________ --Howard

Phobos and Jan: The wiki login is fixed. It was another cookie problem that crept in during the migration.
Please log into the forum fresh and try editing a wiki page. If you see "anonymous," clear cookies and log in again. This will clear stale per-host cookies from before the fix that can linger.
Of course, if it doesn't work let me know. _________________ --Howard

Thanks, looks ok now .
I'll test uploading some new photos later.
I did notice that the filesize of the thumbnails is now closer to 50% of the original while it was closer to 30% previously, but the dimensions are the same.
I don't now if the rescaling was done differently before.
✓ wiki login is indeed working again. _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

radio 1 had been down for hours - i waited a bit to see if anyone would notice - it did not happen .. I then restarted it.
Please note - switching does NOT always work - when you switch it is recommended to check if it worked.
Also, there are some new signups that obviously are spam signups - no one seems to be noticing such stuff. |

The search function for user posts behaves odd, it does now show multiple pages alright .. but the order of the posts seems to be random .. this means that I'm not able to find recent posts of someone .. which means that some threads I'll never find back if I did no0t bookmark 'm myself - this is not handy, and this used to work with found posts reverse sorted on date.
Ideal would be to have sort options ..
For instance see https://electro-music.com/forum/search.php?search_author=mosc
and try to find the recent posts.
This the result from the search for user posts from the user's profile.
The forum's search on author function works better - with that I actually am able to find stuff back .. like this thread which was lost for me.
BTW, PHOBoS asked for a central place for remarks - was that ever established? |

A ccouple of radio things :
- looking at https://www.electro-music.com/radio_admin/radio_info_test.php you will see 8090 and 8104 being active but they are not.
Are these ports the latest ones added? or restarted?
Were these started under the correct user (rights)?
- I can not switch; radio 6 is connected to blue hell - but blue hell is not up .. i can not switch that link.
This could be a user rights issue too, but I am able to open the radio ops pages, but also I dropped the blue hell stream first and then tried to switch ..
there may have been introduced an issue for that with a recent switcher change?
[and blue hell is down for heat reasons - i'm turning everything electric off here except fan fridge freezer .. later today i'll be out again as well for a couple of days .. maybe back monday / tuesday .. also for the temperature .. 30C 50% is pretty nuts in the house, and saturday will be a warmer day]
ok, out for a bit. |

Thanks for keeping an eye out on these things...
These ports were assigned by me during the testing for the Solstice concert. Maybe Phobos assigned one of them.

This is a good catch - this is bug - I'll look at this today first thing. You should be able to run all of the radio ops tools.

I've seen the news about the heat wave. I hope this isn't the start of a long-term trend for weather is Europe. _________________ --Howard

Thanks for the clear report on the user-post search -- you nailed it, and the
diagnosis pointed me right at the problem. It's fixed and live now.
What was happening: the "find all posts by a user" search was pulling posts in
no particular order and then -- for prolific posters like you and me -- silently
throwing away everything past a size limit *before* sorting. Because of how it
was ordered, the part it threw away was the NEWEST posts. That's exactly why you
couldn't find recent ones and why threads went missing. So it wasn't just
sorting -- recent posts were genuinely being dropped.
Three things changed:
1. Author searches now sort newest-first by date, like they used to.
2. The size limit is gone (well -- raised enormously). Searching your 24,000+
posts now returns the *whole* set, not a truncated slice. The full archive is
reachable again.
3. Two small niceties: the "Posted: <date>" is now a clickable link straight to
that post, and the search form now defaults to showing Posts (not Topics).
Give https://electro-music.com/forum/search.php?search_author=blue%20hell a try
and see if recent posts come up where you'd expect. Let me know if anything still
looks off.
Sorting *options* (choosing the sort yourself) are a natural next step if you'd
want them -- say the word. I'm not exactly sure what to do though.
Thanks again -- this was a good catch, and the forum's a better archive for it.

No idea either .. seems like the keyword search from https://electro-music.com/forum/search.php will be good enough .. although I had been using google to find things on the site here as well ..
but anyway .. now I still need to find back that tool you once mentioned .. something like dpd8 or something .. and then a graphical shell around that .. for non-realtime audio maninpulation .. i had it .. deleted it .. and then decided it to be maybe handy anyway .. but can not find it back .. it had some drawbacks .. but did some nice things too .. |

password guessing |

There is password guessing going on, Adis is a legit user that I do not want to block .. yet on his account was posted :
https://electro-music.com/forum/topic-74964.html [this is in the spam section and you may not be allowed to see it]
What would be a good way to deal with situations like this ?
In the past I have blocked such accounts, removed the spam and would in the user comment write that the passord had been guessed and that they should contact admin .. ermm .. and how do you do that when being blocked ..
I do not really have a good way to handle this.
When more mesages come in I will deactivate the account.
edit I've sent an email to Adis - trough electro-music Last edited by blue hell on Tue Jul 07, 2026 4:25 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Internal server error 500.
There is a problem with delban, I wanted to delete the acount :
https://electro-music.com/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=41044
I selected *@asitrai.com and then hit delete acount ..
This brings me to
https://electro-music.com/forum/delban.php?username=Devika123&email=kaniw84248%40asitrai.com&domain=*%40asitrai.com&uid=41044&domain_zap=1
And the firefox says
The server at electro-music.com sent back an error: 500 Internal Server Error
*%40 .. seems double up, but it is not the issue .. removing the * or the %40 does not solve it.
Deleting it with an exact email address does not work either.
Deleting from the admin page's user admin does work .. so erm .. sorry the user is gone .. the bug is not .. Last edited by blue hell on Tue Jul 07, 2026 3:31 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Another bug is - since the swich-over to the new server no single user has been able to activate their account.
I've deleted most nonsense, but there is still some left.
