Klee Panel Thread? Should we split again? Subject description: I think it's actually a good suggestion... |
 |
|
We've had another fork to the Klee project threads.
http://www.electro-music.com/forum/post-152903.html#152903
I actually think there is some merit in separating out the design of panel discussions from the inevitably more complex build questions. It will overwhelm the existing, already overwhelmed Klee build thread, which is like 40 pages already and people are only just now starting to build the retail kit.
What do you guys think? Scott? Come out of your turkey coma and get away from the game. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

yeah, well and truly hijacked now. Not like I'm not adding fuel or anything. But honestly, how facile, let's publish a JPG of a couple of environmental cabin controls for an airliner and say it resembles a synthesizer. Nonsense in the extreme and I'm going to plant the seed of doubt in readers minds. This one at least I am qualified to plant.
But this shit is polluting the thread beyond it's own usability. If we have a fairly moderated thread with these discussions on panels and their designs, we'll have space for the build questions. That guy in florida is going to start soon. Did loss1234 get one yet? Lord help us. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

I don't know. I think we could break into:
- build issues
- front panels
- neat stuff we're playing with them
but that's about it, I dunno. There's always
- Randall-hijacked threads
we could give him his own forum. That'd eat more server space. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

The break-up seems limited put that way, but when it was a separate forum maybe the threads would not get as long as they do now.
Anyway, to go back to the original question, a front panel thread seems a good idea to me anyway. I wouldn't mind a bit of duplicate posting here either as it's pictures only. |

honestly, i'd preferred this.
but what to do with the original threads. i don't want to think of the amount of work it would be cleaning them. or should they just left as they are?
BTW wouldn't it be good in general to have more subforums on diy? what about thomas' forum. actually it is diy? _________________

Thomas' forum is absolutely DIY - just because you are given a design doesn't give you music. There are issues there, we will sort them out soon. None of this would have been an issue if The Person Who Will Not Be Named hadn't dropped in. I'm getting annoyed how everything we are doing is in reaction to that. I'm getting real annoyed.
Our attitudes, even Thomas' usually more mellow attitude, has suffered from this. A little compartmentalization won't hurt. Of course, we will need to improve on our communications. We're practicing here. I think this is all really healthy. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Just dropped in to say I don't watch games, but I sure eat turkey. Nice idea about the expanded thread.
Mwooo ha ha ha, noticed a wireless port emanating from a neighbors house, so I had to see if it would, you know, work. About 16MB up in the time it normally takes 1 MB for me.
Mwooo ha ha ha, but I better run.
Oh, yes, Lossy wants a Klee set, but I have no idea of exactly how many are left (I don't think many). There are many in line in front of him, anyway. _________________ My Site |

I'll take that as a yes.
We can edit down the discussion about it, if we want, or we can just leave it as evidence that we make quick decisions (and evidence that we discuss matters). Again, I think that is healthy. People appreciate good management. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Back home now (had the laptop over at my mother's).
I haven't been keeping an eye on the forum much the past couple of days, I've got a backlog of PMs. Lotsa people asking about Klee boards.
Anyway, shplit away, I have to go back here in a little bit.
That MPS of Thomas' is the schnitz, BTW. _________________ My Site |

I'd be happy to announce that. Would you, Jan, create a Klee Sounds thread? I think we probably need a Klee Build Assistance thread too. Unless people have better names. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

I think that'd be a great idea. A poll, should we split the klee into its own forum.
I think the klee is brilliant enough to be a DIY staple. We may very well be instructing people on the construction of this beast for years. Much like in my other forums we've been teaching script kiddies how to hack their Windows 2000 boot logo (now the XP one) but it's been 6 years of that and we still get random people popping in who didn't get the instructions. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

| K, made the Klee forum, but lifted it out of DIY - can move it back into there if this is a problem. I made the moderating privs close to those for DIY, so everyone should have the same rights there as in DIY. |
