And the computer PSU connector lecture kinda drowned as well.
Randal will burn himself out.
BTW, did you notice Wayne announced the latest sterepico boards just now?
They seem pretty cool. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Yup, a long flash, as he seems to have inexhaustible typing stamina, and I suspect even Randall knows we're adapting, but a flash in the pan nonetheless.
I just hope Thomas doesn't lose patience. It would be a disaster to lose the people whose opinions matter, over this tosser. If he'd stop being so prolific and start building some boards, he'd have a heck of a lot more "cred", whatever it is worth to him. His words aren't worth a lot, especially when he's swamping the market with them.
Which gives me an idea. off to the QFG thread I go... _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Why off to the QFG thread? Shouldn´t you build the QFG instead? You have the PCB already? Right? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I've got limitless patience, and I love hothouse flowers.
Randal googled a Paul Schreiber penned death knell for Mountain Switches, which he pressed into service.
Paul, IMO, gets a bit too anal about parts, and often confuses science with music. If everyone followed his paradigm, only those that make 100K a year would be building DIY. Parts he condemns have served other synths well until some other part of them dies.
Didn't stop Randal from googling the info and bobbing his head in agreement.
If he follows his own google, Cap'n Nemo is going to wind up in the price range of the Buchla 200e. _________________ My Site |

Hey, they're from California. Let's see if he suddenly knows Paul Beaver personally. Considering the guy's been dead for 2 decades, that'd be a fun trick.
Scott, what got me was he ended up spending another screenful of text to say absolutely nothing useful. "they might work, or they might not". arrgh. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

I know. And he must cover some ground in order to make sense of all things Orban-Parasound. Exhuming dead bodies is probably the easy part. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have said anything. But last night, the vexation just caught up with me and I let it blow.
There are times when I think this is just a bad dream. I'll wake up and it will be EM pre-June before the evil descended on us.

Nah, I thought you took it easy on him. Shakespeare only scuffed him up a bit; Oscar Wilde would have eviscerated him.
Plus, I bet twenty seconds after that post, Wikipedia got a much needed hit on their "Polonius" page. Apparently, if Shakespeare had made picture books, Randal would not have had to resort to Google for his "witty" comeback. _________________ My Site |

I've come to the conclusion that were there to be a remake of National Lampoon's European Vacation, Randaleem could play the part of Clark Griswold when the clan invades that clueless elderly German couple's abode. Nothing like a ton of chatter, letting no one get a word in edgewise, to cover those awkward moments! Got nothing to say? No problem---just keep talking and no one will ever notice.
I still think EM should have put him on double secret probation.
(Can you tell that Randaleem makes me think in terms of trashy movie metaphors---with an occasional nod to the classics when I'm feeling benevolent.)

It´s weirsd to discover that I preach moderation
Anyways, turning this into a Brutus stabbing game in public won´t produce the result we want. What we want is something like the finger of God taking out this bug. Consensus?
Still, we are seeing lotsa cool guys joining and I think Randal will soon be overrun by these.
And yes, I have read Randal´s latest contribution in the QFG thread.
The Griswolds..? Yes... _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I'm just wondering if I can somehow throw out something like "Did you know that the name of a character from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' inspired the name of a certain German sports car" and see if he catches it...

But there weren´t any Panzerkampfwagen IV in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'

It is weird! I live in the middle of a region that was settled 150 years ago by Norskes, and thought I had you all figured out by now. But Elektro, your compassion and generosity are starting to trouble me. This is not the way the Norwegian bachelor farmers behave in Minnesota...
Ah, well, I suppose it is the season of forgiveness upon us, so I'll go back to my Beaver Cleaver versus Larry Mondello attitude: I'll just pretend that Randaleem is a big pile of rubbish.

A public referral to a sound program that will allow him to unleash his talents on the world is as friendly as it gets. It relieves him of the task of making excuses.

OK, I did it. When you read any post of mine in which I address Randal directly, you must read it aloud while gritting your teeth. Then it will all make sense. _________________ My Site |

Oh...my.....Flying....Spaghetti....Monster.......
| Quote: | But I REALLY like the chatterbox simplicity ideal too, so I'm thinking that perhaps if there is enough interest, a fast-tracked inexpensive pro-PCB might be a nice holiday gift. What do you guys think? If the boards were here next week, would that be enough time to get them built as gifts?
Is there any interest in a 10-12 dollar PCB for the chatterbox? (I'd lose all the digital noise and replace it with a standard synth noise circuit to significantly reduce the IC count. And trade the individual 741's for a couple quad packages. Is the LM380 really necessary on the PCB?
No parts kits, minimal build docs,IOW, fast tracked. 10-12USD. Any interest?
FWIW there is ample precedent in the two formant approach. But I'd try to include the pads for a third. It will depend upon how it affects the size of the PCB. To keep this PCB at 10-12USD, I may have to leave it off. If so, I'll leave the attachment points in place at least so a perfed or add-on 3rd formant could be used. But I'll try to make it fit. |
All this and NAMM, too. Let's leave this one be. In the off chance that he can't redesign, test, redesign, "kitchen sink" , produce and deliver the chatterbox PCB in a week, then perhaps that will speak quite loudly enough. Especially for those that are still waiting for their VCQFG add-on boards. _________________ My Site |
